TASK 3B - BRAND GUIDELINE

The final project will be creating an e book for the brand that we did in Brand Corporate Identity - Darrma We got to use all the material we have done in BCI into the Brand Guide. The E book has to be interactive and the navigation bar is very important.

After consultation, it is good to go with option two as the layout is good and have a strong color and typo identity.

09/06/2021 | Week 11: Task 3(A): As for your eportfolio for TASK 3(A), please look at what Jing Wen's. The task is called Task 3(A). you need to ensure your book has 32 pages (not including cover). You need to make sure that there is an outline around your page (JPEG). Task 3(B): Option two is good. Layout is great. Later watch the recorded session to hear my feedback to some of the students. It will applicable to you with regard to the navigation: Strong typo identity and colour identity in the brand guide. I can see you have leared alot from your Book Design experience.

General feedback : try to have more interactivity, buttons.

Specific feedback : Cannot use the animation function in Indesign, because Indesign has stop support animation for pdf.

30/06/2021 | Week 14 :
General feedback : There is still no interactivity. We not only create a pdf, it must has engagement. Try to fix the bug of buttons. Some of us the navigation bar is not working properly.

Specific feedback : left right button not working.


REFLECTION 
Experience : 
When designing the brand guide, I struggle a lot at the beginning as I have a lot of ideas for the layout. I look for many references and try to minimize the ideas that are suitable for my illustration style of the brand. Then, I have came out with two option. Since this project is actually the combination of two modules, sometimes I struggle with the opinions and feedback from two lecturers. There is no right or wrong, sometimes they agree with the same thing but sometimes they give different opinion of the design. More over, this is the first time to create an interactive pdf, I struggle a lot to create buttons especially the navigation bar. I redo the navigation bar few times because after receiving feedback, there are changes need to be made and some part need to add on and remove. Finally I found out that the best way is to wait until I got the approval of the design and layout from both lecturers then only I create the buttons for the chapter.

Observation : 
I realized that I already have the direction of designing the brand guide. So, the following chapters is much more easy for me as I just need to go with that direction I want, and try to come out with different types of interesting layout but also to keep it consistent. I found out that two lecturers are giving different feedback is because the understanding is different. What I do is to come out with an interesting and consistent layout but also, make sure each section have sufficient information.

Finding : 
I have gained a lot of knowledge about a brand from this project, like logo exclusion zone, brand personality, style and of course, the design and layout. Then, I also glad that I learned a new skill which is to create interactive pdf. I believe that this would be very helpful for my design and I hope that everything I learned and experienced from this project can improve my design ability in my future.

This video is to teach us on how to rollover buttons in InDesign. However, there are more videos are provided in Facebook such as show hide buttons. All the videos provided are helpful for us to create more interactivities in Brand Guideline.
