PROJECT 1 - INSTRUCTABLE INFOGRAPHIC
This project is to create an infographic of a recipe. We were require to choose one video from
Pasta Grannies to breakdown and chunk their preparation and cooking progress and to come out with a A3 poster.
The video that I've chose :
https://youtu.be/mMXU2Hf8haY
The analysis :
Grandma :
Lives in Caltabellota in Sicity.
Rosetta is foraging for wild fennel
Making Sicilian pasta with Sardines
Back home :
cleans and boils the fennel herbs(10mins)
Fillet fresh sardines
Dry fries finely ground breadcrumbs
In her house, the kitchen is always a party
Process :
2 teaspoons of sugar
Grates an onion & add olive oil with garlic
Sautes onions and add several salted anchovies
Stirs in some home made tomato
Add water
Add small spoon of sugar
Add half of the sardines fillets
Followed by cooked fennel
Dips the remaining sardines in flour
Fries them (cook for couple of minutes)
Use dry short pasta
Adds the dry sardines to the sauce
Drains the pasta
Mixed in the sauce, add warm fennels, sweet breadcrumbs
This dish is made for Father’s Day on 19th March when sardines are plump and and fennel is young

After I have a clear direction of what kind of illustration style I am choosing. I start to come out with the first draft.
Fig 1.5, first draft
I realized that the background seems empty and the words are small that cause it hard to read.
Fig 1.6, changes made
Added background and frame then enlarge the descriptions.
At first, I have no any idea on how to design a recipe infographic poster. I searched a lot of references and visual style. At the end, I decided to go with hand drawing style for this project. I keep the poster clean with little bit of simple background so that the poster wont look messy with the visual style. Overall, the flip topics help a lot on this project and I have learned new things in this module. At the beginning was difficult to come out with an idea, but after that I enjoyed the progress and happy with my design.
