FINAL PROJECT - EXPLORATION AND APPLICATION
Our final project is to develop a font that is intended to solve a large problem or meant to be part of a solution in an area of our interest.
Fig 1.1, first attempt
Mr Vinod said the rounded border must be something very significant and it should has the meaning of it. If not, make the border square. Therefore, the letter "J" looks awkward.
Fig 1.2, second attempt
After I got the approval, I proceed to collateral artwork.

FEEDBACK
Week 10 | 27/10/2020
General feedback : we need to start thinking of our final project, and then create a typeface that reflect the meaning of the item.
Specific feedback : The logo itself has no problem and the logo looks very good. The typeface seems not workable.
Week 11 | 04/11/2020
General feedback : no feedback was given.
Specific feedback : The rounded stroke must has their representative since it is unique. But if not, try to make the letter more square.
Week 12 | 11/11/2020
General feedback : Has to think about what we are going to do with the typeface.
Specific feedback: Overall looks consistent but the letter "J" looks awkward, the stroke has to be thicker.
Week 13 | 18/11/2020
General feedback : no feedback is given
Specific feedback : Design a poster that including the typeface I have design. Remember to include the logo as well.
REFLECTION
Week 11 | 04/11/2020
Experience : I was struggling to find a problem typeface cause I think every typeface from the brand just looks nice and cant found any problem on it.
Observation : I try to look for some logo that I think the design can be better. I've chosen "CraftLa" logo and try to come out with a new typeface.
Finding : This project is extremely difficult for me. After feedback session, Mr Vinod said the design of the "CraftLa" logo is brilliant and there is no problem on it. So, I decided to change my idea and come out with new design typeface.
Week 12 | 11/11/2020
Experience : After the feedback session, I make some changes for the typeface as the letter "J" looks awkward. Besides that, I create four punctuation marks into it in case if I have to use these marks for any collateral work.
Observation : I decided not to change their logo because it just looks nice for me. So, I will search for their poster to see if I can apply my typeface on it.
Finding : Designing a new typeface is not an easy job and most importantly, is better to have a targeted logo or brands to design a new typeface instead of come out with the new designed letters and then see where the design can apply.
Week 13 | 18/11/2020
Experience : I try to search for Mamee poster and their event promotion poster to see where to apply my typeface. But I realized that Mamee's posters are very limited especially their Chinese New Year poster is very nice and I would not like to change their typeface.
Observation : I though the due date of e-port folio was week14, but today is suppose to be the deadline and I have not update the blog for my final projects. Fortunately, Mr Vinod extended one more week for us to complete everything.
Finding : I was a bit far behind as I have to update my e-port folio and to come out with the collateral work. So I have to make the most of time to get everything done before next week.
FURTHER READING
Modern Art :
Fig 1.1, further reading
Collected within this 176 pages are 68 styles, schools and movements from the western modern art. Every two pages is devoted to a certain style and movement so that the amount of text included is just enough to introduce that particular movement. Some of the popular styles or movements are Impressionism, Art Nouveau, Symbolism, Expressionism and so on. In addition, there are also many that I have never even heard of, such as Synthetism, Vienna Secession, Purism, Op Art and more.
Amy Dempsey wrote an introduction to novice art, which is a guide to the last and ongoing art period. It brings us into the knowledge of what society and culture are, showing the recent history of our own world, leading to self consciousness in term of who are and where we come form. Amy Dempsey is also an art historian. She studied under Rosalind Krauss at hunter College New York. She has written a various museums, including Tate and is the author of Destination Art and Styles, Schools and Movements : The Essential Encyclopaedic Guide to Modern Art.
